CVAF Announces Albert Street Tunnel Project

Regina- The CVAF is proud to announce a new public art project to coincide with our 30th anniversary festival. After being brought to our attention by local musician and jogger Jeffery Straker, the CVAF has undertaken a renewal of the pedway beneath the Albert St bridge, in partnership with the City of Regina. Our goal is to fill the 25 metre tunnel with art, as a deterent to graffiti. The project is still in the early phases of development, but the CVAF is hopeful that we will have something to present to the community by the time the 30th annual Cathedral Village Arts Festival begins.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the CVAF has opted to once again present primarily online content. You can expect performances in music, theatre, the literary arts, a digital parade, and of course our famous craft sale. The 2021 CVAF runs from May 24th to 29th, anywhere fine online entertainment can be found. Miss last year’s festival? check out our youtube channel, or browse through the archives.

CVAF vice-chair Janet Brown, says “Planning is officially underway. It’s still the very early stages, but we do have a history of murals in the city. Every year with our arts festival, we have different mural projects on the go. We will be working with our festival committee and the artistic community to get some proposals and get something accomplished.”
